The Beaches of Lantana

The Beaches of Lantana
By Nicholas Jurkowski

Lantana is a small seaside village in Palm Beach County just minutes from West Palm Beach. Preserved in Lantana is that Old Florida small-town-fishing-village charm, and it is a popular winter destination for a large number of Floridians and others. It is both one of the oldest and smallest settlements in Palm Beach County, and is a great place to go to relax. In general, Id recommend it to those who are looking to visit the Palm Beach region and want a fairly quiet, relaxing town to use as their base for excursions into other communities (Palm Beach and Delray Beach are both very close, and there are great fishing charters that sail out of nearby Boynton Beach). That being said, there are some very nice attractions in Lantana, most notably, its fine beach.

Lantanas beach offers quite a lot to the casual beach-goer. The dunes surrounding the beach make for great hiking opportunities, while the beach itself is quite nice, and features a playground for the kids (or large creepy men). The beach also features an inshore reef and restaurant, and so it is a perennial destination for SCUBA divers, birdwatchers, and gluttons.

Lantana is a very nice little spot, and is the perfect base for exploring Palm Beach County. Naturally, youll need some transportation from Lantana to your vacation destinations, and as such, you should consider Mirage Limo. Mirage serves all of Palm Beach County, and can take you from where you are staying in Lantana to all of Palm Beachs famous destinations from the upscale shops and restaurants of Palm Beach to the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. Lantana is the perfect alternative place to stay for people who want to escape the crowds and settle into Old Florida life.

SoBe on Miami Beach

SoBe on Miami Beach
By Nicholas Jurkowski

It looms before you: the be-all-end-all of tropical, hedonistic nightlife. Miami Beach has eclipsed New York, and Los Angeles as the number one spot for nightlife in the United States (placing it high on the running for number one nightlife hotspot worldwide). Miami Beach is a magical land filled with cigarette boats, white-sand beaches, models at photo shoots, and unbelievably good (if overpriced) restaurants. It is the revelers dream, and has to be experienced first hand to be believed.

There are many attractions on Miami Beach that dont relate to either nightlife or sunbathing, but honestly, those are the main reasons to travel to Miami Beach. And if youre going to Miami Beach for nightlife, look no further than South Beach (or SoBe, to the people who want to sound like they are hip).

Everything about SoBe is designed to overload your senses. The beautiful people, the thumping music, the sultry heat, and the fruity drinks (always in abundance) are all part of a vast, naturally occurring conspiracy to make you spend freely and have an amazing time (which separates SoBe from most other tourist destinations that seek only to separate you from your money). There are innumerable restaurant/bar/nightclub combinations, which makes it easy to tailor your night out to be exactly what you feel like. Have a hankering for a luxurious, exciting beach party full of models? Head over to Nikki Beach. Feel like some cheap drinks at more of a dive bar (that is nonetheless occasionally frequented by drag queens)? Head over to Macs Club Deuce. There are clubs and activities to suit any palette, in South Beach, and the best thing you can do is explore.

What better way to explore South Beach could there be than in a limousine from Mirage Limo? The answer: none. Experts universally agree that the limo is the best method of transportation on South Beach for the following reasons: You dont have to worry about parking, you dont have to worry about having a little too much to drink, and the fact you are coming out of a limousine only helps your chances at getting into clubs. So remember, when youre going to the clubs of SoBe on Miami Beach, keep us in mind.

Seaside Oregon: A Top Beach Vacation

Seaside, Oregon: A Top Beach Vacation
By GL Hamilton

In real estate, the mantra is location, location, location. Seaside's location in Oregon is a positive in attracting tourists from all over the I-5 corridor. Seaside is a little over one hour from Portland and about three hours from Seattle in the Northwest corner of the state, just south of Astoria. Seaside is full of history, as they are located off of Highway 101, and at the end of the Lewis and Clark trail. Lewis and Clark is significant in the town, as there is a statue of them at the end of Broadway at The Turnaround, on the famous Seaside Promenade, and the Lewis and Clark Salt Camp, where there is a museum to show where salt was produced for all kinds of uses in the history of the area.

Our beach house was on 7th Ave, four houses up from the beach with easy walking access to The Promenade which gives fabulous views of the ocean and Tillamook Head. The Promenade allows you to walk all through Seaside without having to drive your car while exploring the town. (Walking is a good idea, since there is not a whole lot of parking areas downtown.) Two bedrooms, 1 and 1/2 baths for $125.00 per night. A quick trip to Safeway for supplies, and we were all set for the three days.

The first place within walking distance is the Seaside Aquarium, located between Second and Thrid Street. You can't miss the place, with its big AQUARIUM sign on the Promenade. The Aquarium is a long time tradition in the area, going back to 1937, being one of the oldest on the West Coast. Live exhibits include an octopus, sunflower sea stars, and a wolf eel. They have an interactive section where kids can touch crabs, starfish, and sea anemones. Also at the Aquarium, visible from the street, is the skeleton of a 36 foot long gray whale. It's an amazing visual. Apparently, the weight of the whale was about 35 tons. The Aquarium was also the fisrt one to breed Harbor Seals in captivity.

People were very friendly in the town, offering to take family pictures with our camera as we were setting up pictures with my wife and children. The good service continued to our stop for ice cream at Zinger's Ice Cream (210 Broadway). The offerings there included the usual sundaes and milkshakes, plus fudge, saltwater taffy, cotton candy, and a wide wariety of no carb/diabetic options. One plus for the store is they were open late, until 10 pm. I was surprised that so many businesses closed early, such as the Carousel Mall which closed at 8 pm. Granted, we were there during the week, but schools were out, so there were plenty of people wandering around.

The rest of our days allowed for more exploring and shopping in town. At the north end of town, there is a small outlet mall. It is big enough to have a Nike store, Eddie Bauer outlet, and a Big Dogs store, but some people may prefer the bigger outlet mall in Lincoln City about 90 minutes south. We also had a chance to visit the local Cannes Theater to check out a movie, go karting, and a visit to a local icon called The Pig 'n Pancake. Needless to say, the end of our vacation came far too soon.

Barton G in South Beach

Barton G in South Beach
By Nicholas Jurkowski

South Beach has many things: clubs, bars, snooty attitudes, beautiful people, over-priced drinks. One of the things that is most immediately noticeable about SoBe is also, ironically, one of the things that you first cease to notice once you have spent an appreciable amount of time there: the over-the-top, unbelievably garish, superficial glitz. This comes in many forms, from the icy blonde models that frequent clubs and hotspots to the ornate, often-extravagant dcor of the clubs and restaurants themselves - after youve been around it for a while, you barely notice it.

Thats why it is sometimes fun to go to a place where presentation is the specialty and wild culinary ideas are made real. Barton G (named for an eccentric impresario with a reputation for over-the-top theatrics) offers exceedingly original dishes that really have to be seen to be believed (for example, try the Freedom Chimp for dessert its a chocolate monkey dressed as the statue of liberty, holding sparklers. No kidding). Even fairly standard dishes are presented in bizarre and interesting ways. For example, the seared scallops are served in lollipop form, while you can get swordfish and vegetables skewered on a foot-long dagger. The prices are a little steep, but unlike many other places in SoBe, the portions are huge, and the service is unfailingly excellent (though it does on occasion take a bit of time to be seated).

For optimal dining pleasure, try to get a seat in the garden it really has to be seen to be described, and remember to go all out on dessert. My favorite is the Baked Alaska, which is unrelentingly huge, and can easily feed four diners.

The next time you want to remember what South Beach is known for, head to Barton G its a culinary experience that you wont soon forget.

Bitten by the Beach Bug

Bitten by the Beach Bug
By John W. Spence

In the name of research I've travelled all over Africa and the Indian Ocean, searching for that perfect destination for a beach break to relax for a while after a safari. In Mozambique I think I've found it. The Bazaruto Archipelago consists of four islands, huddled 30 minutes boatride from the port of Vilanculos, classed as a National Marine Park and run by the World Wildlife Fund. There are four lodges on the island, but just two became my firm favourites. Benguerra Lodge is a beautiful and very simple establishment, with a central bar area surrounded by mature trees and lawns while the 13 detached guest chalets are individually set on stilts along the beautiful beach.

The management here work their staff lightly, with one week on followed by one week off: perhaps for this reason they have a really relaxed, attentive mood and the atmosphere is superb. The beach is magnificent and there's a simple dive school, but the greatest pleasure here is just to relax and enjoy the bird-filled bush, the coral-filled waters, and the excellent seafood cuisine.

Almost as lovely, though slightly more polished, is Marlin Lodge, which might perhaps appeal more to keen anglers (there are bonefish on the island) or divers. With 23 guest bedrooms it is a bigger resort, but it still feels warm and intimate. Beware the cheapest 'classic' rooms, however, as they're small and uninspiring: suites and villas are only a few dollars more but much better value.

Though dugongs and whales are amongst the attractions of the sea, it's still worth taking some time off the beach to explore inland. There are lakes with crocodiles and dunes that wouldn't look out of place in Namibia. It's great to explore by 4x4 or on foot.

I am a convert to the charms and unique strong character of the Bazaruto Archipelego. The extraordinarily tidal coastline is constantly changing in character. The local fishermen plying their trade at sea and along the beaches add life and I've been hooked by the forever changing shades of turquoise water that washes over sand so fine it squeaks. If you're adding a beach break onto a South African safari there's no sense flying all the way up to the Seychelles: a beach paradise is far closer to hand.

I want to stay longer and try and identify every bird, catch a tuna and eat it, snorkel and dive every reef and when I have had my fill of beautiful tropical fish and ocean going turtles I want to pass a whale and her calf on my way to finding some grazing dugongs. I will be back.

John Spence originally cut his teeth as a cocktail barman in Cape Town and white water raft guide in Zimbabwe. This unorthodox first travel to Africa buried a strong seed of love for that continent which has grown and grown. Endless weird and wonderful trips to Africa on horse back, by canoe, on foot, light aeroplane and behind the wheel of his own Land Rover have yet to fully satisfy his thirst for knowledge of Africa. Johns two children are also set to become safari experts and are beginning to accompany him on some of his less adventurous trips so hes a good person to talk to about family holidays as well. An itinerary to Africa designed by John will be based on a huge bank of knowledge and a big injection of enthusiasm and adventure.

South Beach Apartment Rental Attractions

South Beach Apartment Rental Attractions
By Horacio N

South Beach apartment rental and Butterfly World

Butterfly World opened its doors to the public in March 1988, making it the first and largest butterfly house in the United States. The $1.2 million facility was built by partners Ronald Boender of Ft. Lauderdale and Clive P.Farrell of England. The facility was built on 2.8 acres of leased county land at no cost to taxpayers. It provides visitors with a beautifully-landscaped, unique scientific and educational showplace that has become one of the landmark attractions of South Florida.

Butterfly World's butterfly house and aviaries were designed in consultation with the famed professional designer, James Gardner of London. The architecture is the perfect highlight to Florida's temperate climate and subtropical setting. This allows butterflies to be outside on live exhibition year-round.

Lion Country Safari

America's first drive-through cageless zoo, Lion Country Safari has been a leader in conservation since 1967. Lion Country Safari provides a habitat in which many endangered or threatened species live and reproduce for the enjoyment of the community.

Theater of the Sea

It is an educational and entertaining marine animal park where shows are up close and personal and the animals live in natural salt-water lagoons.

The lagoons and lush, tropical gardens at the facility are home to Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, California sea lions, sea turtles, tropical and game fish, sharks, stingrays, crocodiles, alligators, marine invertebrates, parrots, and birds-of-prey.

While some of our animals were collected and others were born here, many are non releasable as a result of imprinting and/or injuries sustained in the wild. The health and well being of the animals takes precedence over all other interests and their care and maintenance is supported by patronage alone.

Theater of the Sea is open 365 days a year. The ticket counter opens at 9:30 a.m. EST daily, except on Christmas when it opens at 10:30 a.m.

Bali: Beaches Spas Nightlife and Shahrukh Khan

Bali: Beaches, Spas, Nightlife and Shahrukh Khan
By Manoj Gursahani

For me, arriving at Bali was a travellers delight. Nothing could beat travel fatigue better than the friendly, smiling Balinese faces at the Customs and Immigrations at the Denpasar airport and the Visa on arrival stamped on my passport for 10 USD in 15 minutes flat!

I had heard that Bali was an island of temples, dances, and age-old rituals; with over 95 per cent of the 3 million people practice a form of Hinduism. But nothing prepared me for the spot-on recital of Gayatri Mantra by my taxi driver, followed by a song from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in the same breath. I was amazed by the Bollywood craze in this Far East city, so much so, that I was instantly labelled from Shah Rukh Khans country by every taxi driver and local I met!

Arriving at the airport, most tourists head straight for the beach areas of Kuta, Sanur, Jimbaran or Nusa Dua, I chose Kuta simply because it is still arguably the centre of night life activities along with an array of shops, boutiques, and galleries- what more could I ask for!

Bali offers a vast section of hotels for all budgets, right from simple and cheap accommodation for backpackers to five star hotels with indulgent spas for those seeking pure luxury. I stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, a stones throw away from the Kuta beach.

At sunset, the Kuta beach comes alive, with people wanting to enjoy the stunning panorama. Teeming tourist, locals selling the colourful sarongs and batiks and a Balinese dance performance somewhere on endless stretch of the beachand if you want to dance away into the wee hours of the morning, you wont be disappointed- pubbing is amazing in Kuta, with a wide choice of with pubs and discos that offer a vibrant nightlife.

The best way to enjoy Kuta is by simply asking the locals, who are very friendly an always ready to help you. I was lucky to have a very successful Indian friend in Indonesia- Kishore Pridhnani, who along with his wife Radha took me for a night tour of all the chic places in Kuta. The one that left a lasting impression on my mind was Ku De Ta, a fancy restaurant overlooking the beach. I absolutely loved the ambience in the night and would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

However, if your kind of vacation is to relax and chill out, head to the southern peninsula, with world-class, self-contained luxury hotels set on quiet stretches of beach of Sanur and Nusa Dua, as well as in Jimbaran Bay. (which is also very popular for very reasonable Sea food) These white sand beaches dotted by thousands of mangrove and coconut trees and sheltered by coral reefs, create an ideal haven for honeymooners or those preferring solitude.

To take a break from the hustle and bustle of Kuta, I headed for Ubud, which I must say has retained the feel of a cosy village retreat, despite of the growing tourism industry. Ubud is the arts and crafts capital of Bali, so in addition to streets lined with lined with shops and workshops specialising in traditional crafts, there are a number of different art galleries and museums to visit.

The next I headed for a day-trip cruise from Benoa Harbor that took me to the Lembongan Island, a popular spot for surfers and scuba divers. (at approx. USD 60 onwards for the day-cruise inclusive of lunch, I think its a worth a visit). Arriving on the white sandy beaches of Lembongan Bay, you can take the guided snorkelling trips and glass-bottom boat cruise or simply walk amidst the native Balinese villages

If you want to take a break from the beach scenario, I suggest a trip into the cool mountains of Kintamani with its green rice fields, the placid Lake Batur that rests in a huge crater and the impressive Gunung Batur volcano that dominates the landscape. The evenings tend to get cooler, so carry a warm pullover or a shawl and make sure you have camera with you to capture the spectacular view of Mt Batur.

Bali is one of the Spa Capitals of the world where you can indulge yourself in a spa treatment at very reasonable prices. If you want to spoil yourself then you can sample from an elaborate menu of lulur massages, rice-paste exfoliations, flower petal aroma baths and indulgent cream baths. I would suggest you check some of the local spas that work spa therapies into your holiday schedule on a daily basis. And dont forget the traditional drinks made of herbs and roots jamu, a local Balinese remedy for fatigue, headaches, aching bones or chills.

For the adventurous and sporty, Bali offers a host of adrenaline-pumping water-sports, both below and above water. Surfing, scuba diving, banana boats, snorkelling, parasailing, Jet Ski, Bungee Jumping, Bali offers it all.

Do try the river rafting on the Ayung River amidst a wild tropical forest. Ride the fast-flowing Ayung river as it carves its way with numerous hairpin curves and swirling rapids. A full day programme would only cost you about USD 35 onwards and I found the experience thoroughly stimulating.

For those who love underwater world and always wanted to dive, there is spectacular scuba diving and snorkelling off the unspoiled coral reefs around the island, with the most amazing and colourful underwater life. There are even learners courses by qualified professional instructors for the amateurs (you can take a days course for less than USD 100)

And while you are on the beach enjoying the water sports, do indulge in the locals who cajole you into trying hair braiding, getting tattoo done or even have a relaxing massage.

If you are travelling with your kids, be sure to take them to the Waterboom Park. My kids and I enjoyed a day of waterslides and pools in all sizes with restaurants and snack bars within arms reachgood family fun for kids of all ages!

When you feel like venturing outside for a meal, there are lots of breezy open sided bamboo cafes serving authentic Balinese food as well as an array of sumptuous international cuisine. But for those who miss Indian food, I suggest you try out a delicious meal at the Queens Tandoor in Seminyak, where the owners Puneet and Neeta Malhotra go out of the way to pamper you with personal attention.

Another big pastime here is shopping!

For those who do not want to wander too far from the beach, Sanur, Kuta and Ubud have more than enough to appease any shopper, from sarongs and sandals to wooden statues, stone carvings and iron and bronze works. But if you are keen on shopping, you can buy branded stuff from malls like Mahatari or also look for Factory Sales of branded clothes.

You'll find the ultimate in open-air market browsing in southern Bali, where traditional Asian-style shopping still thrives. Do check out the local painting styles. I suggest, you always go in at less than a third of the price and even walk away, until you get the price you want. .

And before you leave Bali dont forget to buy their chilly sauce called Sambal (its one of its kind and you can even pick it up at the duty free at Bali Airport.)

From the locals raving over Shah Rukh Khan to the colourful Balinese-Hindu culture, this tropical paradise lures Indians, not just by its natural exquisiteness but more importantly by its culture and the warmth of the Balinese people.

With Bali becoming more accessible and affordable, with cheap extension packages from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore and great deals from Garuda Indonesia Airlines that have daily flights connecting the Island for as little as USD 160 for a round trip ticket, I would defiantly recommend this island getaway as your next travel itinerary!

The Beaches of Fortaleza Like no others!

The Beaches of Fortaleza - Like no others!
By Andy Neill

There are two things that set the beaches of Ceara, Brazil apart from all others...their beautiful colors and the huge dunes that sweep back from the ocean.

Fortaleza is on a point, which means the beaches where the warm South Atlantic brushes the shore lie in both directions from the city.If we start at the middle and work out its something like this.Meireles is the beach area of the main tourist area, called Aldeota. There is a large concentration of high-rise condo and hotel buildings along the Beira Mar, or oceanside avenida.

Early in the morning and at dusk, both of which occur around 5.30, either am or pm, you can find hundreds of the citys population, tourists, and locals, walking, jogging, running or just socializing at one of the manay barracas (pronounced ba-hackas) along the beach, both close to the waters edge and also along the avenida, depending on whether you want to have your toes in the white sand.

There is also a tourist market each evening, beginnning around 6pm. The vendors start setting up at noon and close around 11pm-12am.You may purchase everything from cashews to bikinis to shoulder bags to sandals to arts and crafts, in particular, little bottles filled with colored sand poured to make pictures. Its quite fascinating. Mostly, its the locals who hang out at the city beaches. The tourists take a taxi or onibus and travel a little farther.

Facing the ocean and moving towards your right, after passing the port, you come to Praia do Futuro. Along this three mile stretch of beach, there is cleaner water and many barracas where most tourists and many locals go on weekends, particularly Sundays.

Theres lots of beautiful women, cervaza (beer) and regular or seafood. The vendors wander through the tables set up under palm frond canopies and sell anything from lobster to shrimp, to CDs and DVDs to sunglasses and bikinis.

If you are willing to travel a little further, say about 30km, you come to Prainha, my favorite beach. It is cleaner still...they rake the sand every night...the barracas are just as good and the prices are less than Futuro. Thats because most tourists wont go that far for a beach and the barracas are filled mostly with locals.

If you go further you come to Morro Branco, and later Canoa Quebrada. More about them another time.On the other side of the city, out past Iracema, which doesnt have clean water really and even the locals dont swim there, is Cumbuco. This beach community is the weekend home of many of the rich Brazileiros and their families. There are many mansions along the beach that would match the rich enclaves anywhere in the world.

Further along this coast, you come to Mundau, lagoinha, Paracuru and six hours up the coast, you come to the beaches and incredible dunes of the legendary Jericocoara, on the list of Top Ten Beaches in the World.

Mission Beach Vacation Rentals

Mission Beach Vacation Rentals
By Caitlin Moore

Its pretty much a given that a visit to San Diego will be filled with fun, sun, and amusements galore. There are a few things you can do, however, to give your experience a little extra oomph. Especially if youre a beach lover, youll find that reserving a vacation rental near the ocean in a place like Mission Beach will ensure that your vacation to San Diego is comfortable, convenient, and utterly cool.

Mission Beach is located smack dab in the middle of The Strand, San Diegos finest stretch of coastline. This is a gathering place for tourists and locals who have the similar goals of playing games, frolicking in the surf, and generally living life like it was meant to be lived. Essentially, Mission Beach is a prime location for experiencing all that is entertaining about this delightful area of Southern California, so settling down here will keep you in touch with whatever youd like to see and do while youre here.

When planning a getaway, most travelers head straight for hotel listings, but its often a good idea to examine all possibilities before getting out your credit card. Off the beaten path, you never know what kind of gems, and value-friendly ones at that, you might discover.

If youre traveling with a few people, renting a beach house with three bedrooms, an airy, open, living room, and all the amenities youve come to depend on at home will make this trip special and virtually stress-free. The waves will roll into your backyard and the ample windows provide great eastern views of sunrises and the San Diego skyline. A kitchen will keep you stocked with goodies and prepared to fix a few leisurely meals with the family, and the heated Jacuzzi bath tub will make the end of every day as relaxing and luxurious as can be.

Since the kids have been clamoring to head to Belmont Amusement Park, its a good thing that its only a five minute walk from your front door. Spend an afternoon riding the rollercoaster and catching a few thrills in the The Plunge swimming pool, attractions theyll be telling their friends about for sure, and then walk back home for a snack, a nap, or a lazy day on the beach.

A short ride in the car will take you to all the other world-class sites that San Diego is know for, including LegoLand, SeaWorld, the zoo, golf courses, lighthouses, and so much more. Venture south a few miles and youll hit Tijuana, or stick to the states and explore Old Town San Diego for all the great food and shopping you can handle. Rent kayaks for an eco-tour, head out to sea for some deep-water fishing, or simply plop down on a towel with the goal of finishing up the latest bestseller.

San Diego definitely knows how to do luxury, so if your budget is wide open then youll find plenty of mansion-like estates to hole up in along Mission Beach. This is a place with options and history, however, so if you have less cash to spare you wont be shut out. Cute-as-a-button cottages will allow you to cozy up with that special someone for a weekend of relaxation without having to go into debt, so be sure to spend a little time searching for the right place for you. Chances are its out there, just waiting to be discovered.

One thing most people know about San Diego is that its pretty dog-friendly. Happily, this feature extends to many vacation rentals as well, so check the rules before you make your reservations. Your furry family members dont like to be left behind, and this trip, they may not have to be.

So if youre a fan of vacation freedom, beautiful beaches as far as the eye can see, and near-constant 70 degree weather, then a stay in a Mission Beach Vacation Rentals may be right for you. Honestly, its probably right for just about anyone with a pulse, so deny yourself this pleasurable experience no longer. Go online to research your options, and make your way to this privileged place sometime soon.

HomeAway.com is a wonderful place to begin your vacation rental search.

The Best Beaches in Spain

The Best Beaches in Spain
By Michael Russell

We all want something different from a beach. Whether you prefer facilities, peace, privacy or entertainment here are a few Spanish beaches which come highly recommended.

.... to go with children

Look for beaches with fine sand, without stones or pebbles and with wooden walkways to the shore because these are easier to walk on. The best beaches for children are those which have shallow water and only very small waves. In addition, access should be easy and comfortable for buggies and it should have good facilities: foot washers, showers, easily visible danger signs, assistance points, play areas and shady places. If children are small, it is important to check out nearby toilet and changing facilities. To keep them amused, choose beaches with activity centres and supervised courses for windsurfing, swimming or fishing.

La Costilla y El Rompidillo on the Costa Ballena (Cdiz)

Situated between Rota and Chipiona, there are seven kilometres of fine sandy beaches, which are not dangerous and which have all sorts of facilities. The children can be kept amused for hours watching the corrals, small stone walls in the sea where fish, shrimps and crayfish are trapped at low tide.

....in the city

Do you prefer not to lose sight of civilization while you swim? Then city beaches are for you. The best thing is that you don't have to go far to find them - they are separated from the shops and offices by a promenade, from which you can access the sand by means of ramps and steps.

La Concha in San Sebastin (Guipzcoa).

Queen Mara Cristina elevated it to the status of he place to spend summer, at the end of the nineteenth century and, from that time, it has kept its charm. Framed by its two mountains, Igueldo and Urgull, the beautiful beach is bordered by superb decorative walkway. In the centre of the bay is Stanta Clara Island and lighthouse, which can be reached by ferry in the summer.

....for nudists

If when it gets hot, you find clothes are too much, you'll surely enjoy naturism, which consists, among other things, of living the beach experience in your birthday suit or how your mother brought you into the world as the Spanish put it. Well, you can wear a thong if you want. In Spain there are several hundred beaches with a nudist tradition which goes back to the 1960s, the majority with difficult access and unspoilt scenery. As well, there are those which must live with the extiles (as naturists call those who don't go nude) in separate zones, including certain remote caves in which there is a natural mixture of bathing costumes and exposed skin. You can also find areas of coast specifically for nudism; authentic naturist centres, equipped with all types of set up (hotels, supermarkets, swimming pools) for those who go around completely naked.

Cala Fonda, in Altafulla (Tarragona).

Also known as Waikiki Beach, it is situated in the middle of a leafy pine grove and sheltered by a vertical cliff which makes access difficult. Precisely because of the complications of getting here (it is necessary to walk more than a kilometre through woods), it has become a complete nudist paradise. There are more than 200 metres of fine sand with clear water and absolutely nothing else.

...for friends of the wild and the natural

The more difficult the paths are to negotiate, the more possibilities you have to have the beach to yourself. These coastal spots well deserve a hike of several hours, but to be remote from civilization as well implies a total absence of infrastructure, so don't forget to carry a good supply of water with you and whatever you need to give you some shade. The locals know the best places and how to get to them, so use your charm to get the information from them.

Los Genoveses, in San Jos (Almera).

Positioned in the heart of the Parque Natural del Cabo de Gata, you get there by a small earth road, signposted from the town of San Jos. The small bay of Los Genoveses (so called because in its day, it was an anchorage for pirate ships) opens up to the left of the road and has an improvised parking area. It is a beach of dunes, surrounded by vegetation.

Dubai Beach Apartments A New Fad In Holiday Making

Dubai Beach Apartments - A New Fad In Holiday Making
By Pankaj Mohan

Dubai is fast gaining a cult status in today's world, not only due to its enviable trade and commerce, but also because of its emergence on the world map as a major tourism destination. The city of Dubai is facing as a result, an onslaught of visitors these days. They include the CEOs, executives, technicians, managers, holidaymakers, rich and famous and almost anybody else that you may think of. This has caused, as a consequence, a great stress on the hotel industry which was catering to most of the rising accommodation demands until recently. The other option, which is now widely being used for lodging is that of hiring privately owned villas and apartments on rent. Experts say they are going to play a significant role in Dubai's tourism in the years to follow.

Memoirs suggest it was the 1960s that turned out to be a turning point in Dubai's quest for wealth. They had an impressive growth rate by then due to the ongoing gold trade, which subsequently got aided because of the discovery of oil. Multinationals began converging at Dubais seashores with their assets and manpower in a huge fashion, and the sleeping town had suddenly become alive. One can measure the impact of that inflow of men and women from the fact that more than 70 percent of todays population in Dubai is comprised of expatriates. The rush hasnt stopped till this date and the queues for visas continue to spread out.

What leaves one disappointed though, is a lack of inexpensive accommodation that can leave you stranded in Dubai. Barring a few low-priced ones, most of the hotels in Dubai are very expensive. In addition, hotel bookings have to be made in advance, which keeping in mind their expenses can prove out to be a costly affair if the meetings had to be rescheduled or cancelled. This is where privately owned apartments, also called Dubai beach apartments, assume great significance for the visitors. They are found not only to be inexpensive, but also carrying with them extra space, added privacy and more facilities when compared against the hotel accommodation.

A majority of these rentals can be found located in Dubai Marina, Dubai beach and other essential areas of the megapolis. State of the art facilities such as high speed Internet, Cable TV, DVD player, swimming pool, gymnasium etc are offered with each property for hire. Weekly house keeping services do also get extended and so are the supplies of bed sheets, blankets, towels, shampoo, shower gel etc met. Apart from houses on rent one may also choose a place to live from the hotel apartment category. Some of these hotel apartments could also be found situated right at the beach, which also means they would have breath-taking sea-shore views for you to get delighted on.

Getting information on those who are providing apartments in Dubai would tell they are mostly real estate dealers. Some of these companies may be found being managed by highly professional teams. The same may not be said regarding others though. It is advised therefore, you did homework before going through any deal. The biggest caution is to know if the house really had a seaside view, in case you were looking for one. You might end up living with a view that was being blocked by several other apartments.

According to the residents in Dubai, 'you would get to see a new building each new morning you got woken up'. Steps taken to boost the infrastructure have been producing results during the last four and half decades. World's only seven star hotel stands tall at Dubais seashore today. Plans like Jebel Ali Free Zone and Dubai Marina are changing the way people had been thinking about the Gulf as a region. Very reputed bodies like ICC have got their headquarters moved into this famous city now. The world is watching these developments with interest, and willing to be a part of Dubais expansion. No doubt, investment, tourism and the number of visitors are going to keep knocking at Dubais doors. So would the demand for beach apartments do in the years to come now.

New Myrtle Beach Fall Advertising
By Groshan Fabiola

Theres more to Myrtle Beach than just hot weather. Most people do not think of going to the beach when they think of fall, but it is actually a beautiful season in Myrtle Beach. The Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce recently launched a new advertising campaign to promote visiting Myrtle Beach in the fall.

Travelers within 300 miles now know that Myrtle Beach is ready to greet fall travelers with golf courses, shopping, festivals as well as lower off-season rates. The Myrtle Beach advertising campaigns goal is to fill the numerous hotel rooms that have been added during the last few years during the fall. Myrtle Beach has added about 20,000 lodging units since 2002, but occupancy is only about 54 percent.

The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce has launched some fall promotion as well by creating the Endless Summer festival to give people a reason to visit after the peak summer season. About 70 percent of people who surveyed who saw the Myrtle Beach ad say they are interested in a fall or holiday Myrtle Beach vacation with family or friends, while 17 percent are interested in a weekend getaway.

The Myrtle Beach ads are reaching people who are not likely visitors and hopefully persuading them to travel there. About 60 percent of people who called the chamber of commerce of Myrtle Beach in response to the TV ads have not vacationed there in the past two years. About 25 percent of those who responded online said they had never been to the Myrtle Beach area.

Attracting new visitors is a main factor of growing the number of tourists to Myrtle Beach to 20 million, which is what is needed to fill about 90,000 lodging units, Dean said.

Bahamas Paradise or Just Another Beach

Bahamas - Paradise or Just Another Beach
By Michael Russell

In 1492, on San Salvador island in the eastern part of the Bahamas, Christopher Columbus hit land. Upon seeing his surroundings, it is believed that Columbus uttered the words aja mar, which means shallow water or sea. This island, surrounded by shallow water basically took as it's name, the words that Columbus uttered, but more commonly spoken as the Bahamas.

The Bahamas caught the attention of traders, settlers, etc. because of its proximity to Florida and because of the shipping channels. It is believed that people lived in the Bahamas as early as 300 to 400 A D. and it is suspected these early settlers were Cuban and lived off the ocean food.

As the 10th century came, so did the Lucayan Indians and they settled in the Bahamas to get away from their enemies, the Carib Indians, who were known to be cannibals and warriors. There were estimated to be about 40,000 Lucayans living in the Bahamas in 1492 when Columbus arrived, but Columbus arriving was a bad omen because within 3 years of arriving, Columbus enslaved the Lucayans and shipped them to Hispaniola to work in his mines. Due to disease, slavery and other hardships the Lucayan tribe was completely wiped out within 25 years of the arrival of Columbus.

The hay day for pirates and privateers was between the late 1600s and early 1700s. The landscape of the Bahamas made a perfect hiding place for pirates to lay in wait for unsuspecting and unprepared ships to try to pass through.

There have been a few famous pirates that at one time made the Bahamas home. Blackbeard once lived in Nassau and fellow pirates thought so much of Blackbeard (or maybe it was fear), that they elected him magistrate of their privateer republic. Blackbeard ruled with his own style of justice until 1718 when Royal Governor Woodes Roger arrived and kicked all the pirates off Nassau.

Another famous pirate that spent time in the Bahamas is Calico Jack. Calico is less known for his pirating skills and more renowned for having two women as part of his crew. Calico was such a non-fighter that in 1720 when the Royal Governor ordered an attack on his ship, he and his crewmen hid below; while his two women pirates tried to fight off the attackers. Of course, this wasn't a fight that two women could win.

More than a century later saw the arrival of new settlers to the Bahamas. These were colonists that were still loyal to the British flag. They left the new America for the Bahamas but they brought their slaves with them. In 1783;with the purpose of gaining independence, these ex-American colonists, with the help of the South Carolina Militia, forced the retreat of Spanish forces from the entire region.

The Bahamas economy was closely tied into the civil war. Britain needed cotton from the south to keep its textile industry running, but because of union blockades, no ships were allowed to reach port. Thus, blockade-runners were born. These runners, in fast boats, would travel from Charleston to Nassau with loads of cotton. Once in Nassau the runners would trade their cotton for goods that the British ships carried. After returning to Charleston the runners would sell their goods for profit. The end of the civil war put a serious dent in the Bahamas' economy; until 1919 when prohibition came into play. Whisky was a great British import for the Bahamas, so much so that the government expanded Prince George's Wharf in Nassau to make room for the shipments. Unfortunately, this boom was short-lived because in 1934 prohibition ended and so did the profits that flowed through the Bahamas because of it.

The mid-19th century saw the beginning of the tourist industry. With the help of the government, there was more construction and subsidized services to attract more tourists but the biggest help to the Bahamas tourist industry came in 1961 when Cuba was closed to American tourists. With Cuba gone, the Bahamas became a major island destination for Americans. The Bahamas was granted limited self-government in 1964 by Great Britain and 1969 it became part of the Commonwealth. On July 10,1973 the Bahamas legally became a nation.

Check Out Edisto Beach for a Quietly Satisfying Vacation

Check Out Edisto Beach for a Quietly Satisfying Vacation
By Caitlin Moore

Long ago, the Edistow Indians made their home on a strip of what is now South Carolinas coast, becoming the first of many to find this an attractive place to be. Tracing history will reveal that Spanish travelers, English settlers, and many descendents in search of farm land and relaxing ocean views all followed that initial good example. Based on what youll hear about the Edisto of today, its likely that youll soon hop on the bandwagon by making this the focus of your next well-deserved vacation.

Edisto Beach is located in the Charleston, South Carolina area, a region well known for bringing in weekenders and weary souls in need of a good rest. This city and the nearby beaches are filled with history, southern charm, recreational activities and plenty of opportunity to sit on a beach towel and let your mind release from the clenched, stressed-out state that it normally exists in.

Its a pretty quiet place and not as hopping as some of the other nearby islands, which might be music to your ears. Family friendly and brimming with unspoiled nature, Edisto is good at making people feel like they really are away from it all. A lack of commercialization and zero traffic lights might make you feel like youve gone back in time, or at the very least, like youve gone to a simpler place where deadlines and cell phones fear to tread. If youve lately had an overdose of urban noise and bustle, give Edisto a little of your time.

If youre feeling inclined to enjoy the peace of the water, reserve a boat tour that will take you around the salty marshes and a ways offshore, too. Watch for dolphins or great blue herons, or acquire some fishing gear and set your mind towards reeling something in. Even if you dont catch anything, the feeling of bobbing along the water with your eyes trained on the sparkling waves will make up for all those hours spent sitting in traffic jams. The view from this angle isnt so bad either; check out some old plantation homes and beaches whose seclusion will ignite the poet within you.

Once youre back on dry land, you wont know which way to turn. Pleasant golf courses will call out to you, as will the biking paths that stretch parallel to the shoreline. Exercise fanatics will be able to get their fix this way, and casual types will find it to their liking to stretch their legs and fill their lungs with fresh air by means of a walk after a meal or before nap time calls.

Speaking of meals, the restaurant selection on Edisto Beach isnt as varied as youd find in some places, but the simple, fresh, often seafood-themed dinners definitely get the job done. Fill up on shrimp or oysters, and dont worry about breaking out the ties or high heels. Everything is casual in these parts, so dress for comfort and above all, enjoy yourself.

Bring a camera to capture a few key moments and images from this visit, or even better, check out the local art scene for a souvenir that will always bring you back to this lovely little trip. From pottery to paintings, furniture to cook books, the creative spirit of Edisto will surely win you over if you give it a chance. You might never have thought that an unassuming beach town would have so many surprises, but exploring this hidden jewel will reveal plenty of unexpected qualities worth investigating on a sun-dappled afternoon.

If this sounds like your kind of trip, then start investigating today. A superior vacation is well within your reach, so give a little effort now to ensure that all will go well later on. This means skipping the boring hotel route and checking out a vacation rental that will exceed your expectations by offering more than just standard amenities.

Having the beach within easy reach as well as feeling like the master of your own one-of-a-kind domain will immeasurably add to your upcoming holiday, so go online and look through all the Edisto Beach Vacation Rentals. This getaway is just what you need, so get ready to loosen up and learn to relax again.

The beautiful island of Anglesey is found off the North West coast of Wales. One of its main attractions are its exceptionally fine sandy beaches and sea views. In fact the beaches are perfect for swimming, sailing and a whole range of water sports.

Here you will find clean, blue waters which can attract even the most sceptical of beach visitors. The highly respected European Blue Flag Award Scheme has again given top marks to a number of Anglesey beaches.

So whether you are an international traveller or from elsewhere in the UK, when you see the Blue Flag you can be confident the waters are of the highest standards for bathing. And support facilities are also excellent which means a visitor can have further confidence in whats on offer.

On Holy Island, a smaller island off the West coast of Anglesey, is Trearddur Bay beach. This vast south-west facing beach is popular with swimmers and sailors. If you prefer a swim, thats fine. Youre safe from power boats and jet skis which have to observe speed restrictions and stay outside a line marked by buoys.

Behind the concrete promenade is the Millennium Cross which was erected to commemorate AD 2000. The cross bears the name St. Ffraid, the patron Saint of Trearddur. Originally, from Faughart in Ireland, legend has it that St. Ffraid was carried across the Irish Sea on a green square turf.

Moving further along to a smaller beach called Porth Diana you will find a slipway for the sailing dinghies and other craft which use these coastal waters. One of the most spectacular sights is when all the different sail boats gather during the Annual Regatta in August. The sea is full of colour.

Here you will see different shaped sail boats, white, green, and yellow sails and spinnakers against a steady blue horizon to the west. It was the red sails of these boats that inspired the famous song Red Sails at Sunset.

To the south of the island is another Blue Flag winning beach called Llanddwyn. Approaching from the famous village of Newborough, you can choose to walk through a fascinating coniferous forest with its abundant wildlife a stimulus to the senses.

Emerging from the forest, you will witness a wide panorama with the blue sea before you and the soft earthy browns and greens of the Snowdon mountain range touching the horizon to your left.

Then there is the famous Llanddwyn Island, with its old church ruins and a white lighthouse at the southernmost point. This is where Dwynwen, patron saint of lovers is said to have been buried. And it was here that Demi Moore filmed Half Light, a film soon to be released.

On the eastern side of Anglesey is the Blue Flag Beach at Llanddona. To approach this beach you need to drive down some narrow country lanes, as the village by the same name is one of the highest points on the island.

Its well worth taking the time to appreciate the magnificent and breathtaking views from the top before you descend to the beach itself. To the left is the red Wharf Bay and the nearby coastal village of Benllech. Looking further north along the coast, the eye reaches Moelfre, famous over the years for the heroics of its Lifeboat crew in some mammoth sea conditions.

Facing the east, Llanddona beach is sheltered from the prevailing south westerly winds, and its great for family watersports. From here you may well see on the horizon a distant ship on passage to Liverpool.

So, whether you want to swim, sail, jet ski or just visit interesting sites and take in the beautiful sea views, Angleseys clean, quality beaches have much to offer the international traveller.

Daytona Beach Spring Break

Daytona Beach Spring Break
By Kent Pinkerton

One of the most famous rituals in college is the spring break. Thousands of college students head to beach during this season and most of them go to Daytona Beach for a week-long party. They come in buses or cars with only beach gear in their bags. They come for the beach and the company of fellow students glad to be out of their colleges and universities. Organizers put up free concerts and games, and the environment is simply lots of fun. This has been a tradition that only gets bigger every year.

Famous celebrities grace these activities to add to the excitement. Many of them debut new albums at these concerts and parties, testing acceptance from their main market: students.

Spring Break in Daytona

The spring break activities usually begin the second week of March and last about two weeks. The 23 miles of sandy beaches are perfect for spring break activities that include campfire parties, concerts, surfing contests, and many others.

Daytona Beach spring breaks have become famous worldwide for its wild concerts, bikini clad co-eds, and downright outrageous booze parties. Students from other countries come and join the fun too.

From the beach, these revelers go to clubs at night to party. The clubs take this opportunity to rake in sales by organizing exciting activities too. Lately however, there have been ordinances that limit some of the activities of spring break. They have not spoiled the fun for students who continue to go to Daytona Beach for partying, even if there are more rules than there used to be.

Accommodations

Students usually check in groups at hotels, inns and apartments. Some organize their own parties at resorts and rental homes. Most of these establishments offer special student discounts during this time. More bohemian spirited college students pitch tents or rent cottages on the beachfront. These usually happen when accommodations get fully booked. As a result, campfire parties right on the beach are organized spontaneously.

The Top 5 Amenities of a Miami Beach Hotel

The Top 5 Amenities of a Miami Beach Hotel
By Michael Buczek

Miami Beach is fast becoming one of the top vacation destinations for families and travelers alike. Miami Beach offers sun, fun and a variety of activities to choose from. No that you have decided to vacation in Miami Beach, it is time to choose the hotel that you will reside in for your vacation. With a plethora of hotel options how does one pick the perfect Miami Beach hotel? A good way to choose a hotel is by the amenities that the hotel has to offer. One of the biggest disappointments that I have encountered is getting to a hotel and expecting a service that the hotel does not offer. With all the travel tools that are available on the web, you can do a little research before you go to make sure you get what you want. Listed below are what I feel are the top 5 amenities that a hotel can offer to you and your family to make your accommodation choice perfect for you.

#1 Amenity Beach Access and Pool
When you are in Miami you are there for a reason. Chances are you are there to have fun on the beach. Many hotels in Miami have beach access right at the hotel. While some dont, chances are there is a beach not far, usually within walking distance from the hotel. When it comes to beach access, determine how much time you will be spending on the beach, and how long you want to travel to get to one. Another consideration is cost. Hotels that have private beach access tend to be more expensive than hotels that dont.

When choosing a Miami Beach hotel, consider whether or not you would like the hotel to have a pool, and make sure that the pool is open. Hotels do go through renovations and sometimes they dont list whether the pool is open while you are there. It can ruin a vacation if the kids want to go to the pool and you find out it is closed due to renovation while you are there. A hotel may list that they have a poll on their website, but it is still a good ides to give the hotel a call to make sure the pool will be open while you are there.

#2 Amenity Onsite Dining
While it is nice to experience dining outside your hotel, sometimes vacationing can make you tired and you may not want to leave your hotel. When choosing a hotel, check to see what kind of dining options the hotel offers. Some hotels offer only 1 or 2 choices for dining, while others offer an assortment of options. Many of the hotels offer fine dining in the evening so it might be good to check on what type of attire is suitable for this type of restaurant.

#3 Amenity Spa and/or Health Club
Many Hotels today offer an onsite spa or fitness center. If you are looking to pamper yourself while you are on vacation, check into these choices. While some hotels offer onsite spas and fitness centers, others offer affiliate programs. These programs offer discounts to nearby spas or fitness centers. A lot of times when a spa is offsite the hotel will provide transportation. It is still a good idea to check with the hotel to see what they do and do not offer in regards to a spa and health club. Many hotels also offer spa packages or specials that are included in the packages, so check into this and save some money by booking it all together.

#4 Amenity Childrens Activities
Miami Beach is a great family destination. When choosing a hotel, make sure it offers something for everyone. Many hotels offer things for children, such as a kiddy pool and playground equipment. Others offer activities for older children such as table games and arcades right in the hotel. Check these out before you go to make sure the whole family is happy.

#5 Amenity Onsite Entertainment
Many hotels offer entertainment right at the hotel. This can be a major consideration when booking a room. While many people enjoy the onsite entertainment some people dont. Check to see what kind of entertainment the hotel offers, and what time it ends. If events end later than you would like, and you still like the hotel, request a room away from the area where the entertainment or event is being held. If onsite entertainment is your thing, it is a good idea to talk with the hotels concierge to get a list of events going on at the hotel.

Every Miami Beach Hotel offers something a little bit different. Before choosing one, consider the above amenities and others that I have not mentioned before planning your next vacation. View the hotels website as well as other online sources to see what other guests have said about the hotel you are thinking about.

Tips for Getting the Most from Beach House Rentals

Tips for Getting the Most from Beach House Rentals
By Morgan Hamilton

For more than twenty years, my family has planned a beach trip for each year. We always try to get adjoining hotel rooms so that we can walk back and forth and have more room. However, we simply have outgrown the concept of getting adjoining rooms now that our family has grown up, and some have married and have children. It has become clear that we need something much larger.

My mother and I decided that we should probably start looking for some beach house rentals. We also planned to cut the costs by having everyone contribute. I immediately hopped on the World-Wide-Web to look for beach house rentals in the town that we always vacation in. However, finding a house to rent was much easier said than done, even if my intentions were good. I did find a lot of advertisements for real estate agencies in the areas. I also wanted to make my own plans because I didn't want to go through an agent.

However, I wasn't very impressed with most of the places that offered beach house rentals. I finally gave in after a few weeks and called a real estate company in the town. I asked them to mail me some information on beach house rentals and anything that would be helpful. I received a package in the mail that contained lots of catalogs, brochures, flyers and information on all of the rentals that they dealt with several days later. I was overwhelmed but confident that we'd find something in the pile that I was trying to organize.

I found that most of the beach house rentals were much more expensive than the hotel rooms that we had outgrown. However, the costs would be reduced because there would be several families staying there. We wanted to find a house that had enough of bedrooms so that everyone had privacy and didn't have to feel so cramped. We can save money on food because all of the beach house rentals had kitchens. We do not have to worry about where we were going to be eating breakfast or dinner on any given day because we could easily cook the majority of the meals.

We quickly learned that you are responsible for your own cleaning with beach house rentals. This is because there is no housekeeping that comes in daily to make your beds and sweep the sand out of the house. You have to do all of that on your own. Fortunately, we were able to find a wonderful beach house that we reserved for our normal vacation week. Im sure that well be returning in the future because it turned out to be absolutely perfect.

Beaches and Weather in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya Mexico

Beaches and Weather in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya Mexico
By Steve Moen

Millions of people a year flock to Playa del Carmen, and the Riviera Maya, to escape cold weather, get a reprieve from work pressures, and take time off for serious rest and relaxation. The major attractions to the area are the white sandy beaches, the amazing crystalline waters, the laid back Caribbean attitude, and the warm tropical weather.

The climate in the Riviera Maya is semi-tropical, with an average yearly temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit (26 Celsius), which can rise to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.7 Celsius) in the hot summer months. June first is official start of hurricane season and ends on November 30th. From November to April, which is considered high season here;it is hot and sunny during the day and cool and breezy at night.

  • February to May February, March, April, and May are beautiful in The Rivera Maya. The Caribbean Sea is calm and clear and as summer approaches the water temperatures gradually rise. With warmer waters by May this is usually the time that the jelly fish, or agua mala come to our shores. So May is a perfect time of year to go cenote hunting! Nights can still be cool, but a sweater is rarely needed.
  • June to August During the summer months Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya are hot, hot, hot! The humidity rises so afternoons are steamy and hot. We highly recommend you stay close to a water source. The Caribbean is so warm you can float the day away, and the cenotes stay at an even 78 degrees (25.5C) which is always refreshing. There is some rainfall in the afternoon and evenings, but it never lasts very long. The nights do not get much cooler so for a truly good night sleep air-conditioning and a good fan are highly recommended.
  • September and October September and October are considered the height of the hurricane and tropical storm season. We also can get a fair amount of rain during these months, however it doesn't rain everyday. It is still hot and humid with days and evenings registering similar temperatures.
  • November to January These are the coolest months in Playa del Carmen and the surrounding areas, which means it is warm and sunny during the day and cool and breezy in the evenings. Rain is very rare during this time of year, but evenings can bring temps in the high 60's (15.5C) so a sweater is recommended.
Warm weather wear: Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya's weather does not fluctuate that significantly though out the year. It is the tropics so lightweight cotton clothing, beach wraps (pareos),, and bathing suits are what you spend the majority of your time in. During the day, the climate is hot and light clothing, such as shorts and tank tops, are recommended. During the evenings you may need a light sweater or jacket depending on the time of year. For trips into the jungle, you should wear pants, long-sleeved shirts and shoes in order to fend off mosquitoes and other insect bites. Sturdy shoes should always be worn if you plan on going to see any archeological sights to keep you sure footed and able to explore.

Beaches and Beach Clubs in Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya

Nuddy Beach Club and Bar: Located both in Playa del Carmen and in Tulum, Nuddy beach, pronounced nudie, is the quintessential beach club with lounger beds, bathing beauties, trendy tunes, and buckets of beers. Located just south of Mamitas Beach in Playa del Carmen, and about a mile south of the ruins in Tulum, it is a great place to people watch and enjoy everything the Mayan Rivera has to offer.

Mamitas Beach: Located in Playa del Carmen, Mamitas Beach and Beach Club has been around for years, but after being severely damaged by Hurricane Wilma, it has received a major facelift, and it is a favorite beach spot for both locals and visitors. It has beautiful covered beach beds, beach volleyball, excellent beach access, great tunes, and a restaurant and bar on site. It is also the annual host for the fashion show produced by Fashion TV. The best way to get to Mamitas is by the access road on Avenue First South between 28th and 30th Streets.

Tukan Beach: Tukan Beach and Beach Club is located directly between Mamitas and Nuddy Beach. Recently it also had a major face lift similar to Mamitas. Actually Tukan and Mamitas kind of just meld together to create the ultimate beach experience. Beautiful beaches, beautiful people, yummy food, water sports, and premiere lounging spots, you will not be disappointed.

Coco Beach: Considered as the northern beach this is a bit of a jaunt from Playa Mamitas and Playa Tukan, Coco Beach is considered to be more laid back and less trendy then its sister beaches to the south. But keep in mind that it is getting developed and there is a beach club in the works for the upcoming season.

Xpu-ha Beach: Located just south of Puerto Aventuras you can access this amazing stretch of beach by a sign that reads La Playa on your left hand side. If you miss the turn you can go a bit further south and there is a very small access road just north of the Copacabana Resort. This stretch of beach is a true slice of heaven with palm trees sprinkled along the shoreline, excellent snorkeling, and various cafes and bars that you can grab a bite to eat or a cold beer. Although there are a few resorts that have access to this beach that have yet to take over completely and you can definitely while away an afternoon relaxing, and enjoying this quiet and tranquil Caribbean beach.

Tulum Beach and Playa Paraiso: Just to the south of the Tulum ruins there is an incredible stretch of beach even less populated then Xpu Ha. There are small palapa style hotelitos and cabanas along this beach that you can stay in that are relatively inexpensive. At the same time there are also trendy and chic beach resorts such as Mezzanine that will pamper you silly. Tulum is a very popular spot for kite boarding so you are likely to see the skyline peppered with colorful kites on a windy day. Overall this is one of our favorite beach spots that is in our area.

Topless beaches in Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya: Although it is actually illegal to sunbathe nude or topless on Mexico beaches, in Playa del Carmen and the Rivera Maya, it is tolerated. Due to the major European influences in the area most beaches you will see topless sun worshippers trying to get as much sun on their bare bodies. There are also clothing optional resorts and spas that cater to couples who want to vacation in the buff. Some remote area beaches you can strip down and bare it all. Keep in mind that Mexican Nationals are a conservative bunch so respect the locals, and if you are in a remote area keep a beach wrap close by. In addition women should always practice caution and safely if sunbathing nude or topless in a tucked away location or low traffic area.

Enjoy your stay in Playa del Carmen!

Dreaming of Laguna Beach

Dreaming of Laguna Beach
By Caitlin Moore

So ideal that it serves as the backdrop to a television show about privileged teenagers with nothing better to do than tan and talk about their love lives, Laguna Beach is a gorgeous locale that, for smarter people anyway, tends to inspire more delight than drama. Head here for a temporary break from reality (not a lifetime one) and enjoy a vacation that will make you feel like a superstar.

The scenery and beach activities are what give Laguna Beach its toehold when it comes to surpassing most other places as a hot vacation destination, but theres a lot to do besides frolic in the surf wearing your new bikini. This city in Orange County is actually brimming with art festivals, nature facilities, heritage tours and much more. The expected shopping, spas, tennis and golf are all up for grabs as well, but dont think that this place is as vacuous as the silly kids who represent it.

The Festival of Arts held here each summer has reached a world-renowned status thanks to the living portraits presented to music and narration. The Sawdust Art Festival is more low-key and focuses on local talents, while the Laguna Dance Festival attracts dancers and dance-lovers for a showcase of grace, beauty and athleticism each October. If any of these have snagged your attention, check your calendar so that your visit coincides with one of these hot-ticket special events.

Laguna Coast Wilderness Park offers the chance for adventure and exercise seekers to take a three hour hike, and Crystal Cove State Park reveals a string of tide pools to examine. Ocean kayaking, dolphin and whale watching, surfing and scuba diving can all be arranged, too, so check out the offerings of Mother Nature and relish the untainted beauty of this area.

Laguna has its very own winery, so if youve always wanted to see grapes go from solid to liquid here is your chance. Sample the tasty results and pick up a bottle to bring back as the perfect souvenir. On the topic of taste buds, a culinary school will give you a few lessons if you feel like brushing up on your kitchen skills, or if youd rather let someone else do the work, visit one of the many fabulous restaurants. California takes dining very seriously, and youll find this area to be dotted with a number of incredible restaurants. From Asian fusion to old-school Italian, theres something here for every taste.

Work off those calories (they were well worth it) by tying on your tennis shoes and hitting the courts. The greens will also call to all golfers out there, and no coastal vacation is complete without a high-spirited game of beach volleyball. Biking and walking the palm tree-lined streets are also excellent ways to stay fit and feel good, so embrace the activity-oriented atmosphere and keep moving all the way through your trip.

If youre a nightlife kind of person, take comfort in knowing that there are plenty of spots to groove and sip until the break of day, so settle into a comfy booth with your love or hit the dance floor and meet new people, whatever you desire will surely find an outlet in this fun loving place. Thats one Southern California stereotype thats true; they like to party down here.

Whether you have art acquiring, sun tanning, or celebrity gazing in mind, it can all be best accomplished by means of a Laguna Beach Vacation Rental. These fabulous properties will house you in comfort and style while giving you a bit of privacy; theyll also encourage you to pretend youre off on holiday, awaiting your next big break from HollywoodEven if you have no aspirations to fame, consider a trip to Laguna Beach so that, at the very least, you can try to understand the mindset of those lucky young residents of this stunning place.
