Florida has a Clean Beaches Council that grades beaches as per a few criteria. Twenty two parameters are tested and compared for grading. Some of these criteria are periodic water quality tests, easy access to emergency care, environment preservation and the like. Beaches that meet all the twenty two criteria are designated as Blue Wave Beaches. Fort Lauderdale Beach, Dania Beach, Deerfield Beach, Hollywood Beach, and Pompano Beach are all certified Blue Wave Beaches.

Lauderdale- By-The-Sea is a pristine town located just across the Intracoastal Waterway. Its clean and quiet beach is good for relaxation. Access to good restaurants takes care of necessities.

The Northern Beach Area is located between Oakland Park Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard. This is mainly a quiet area and is a favorite spot for treks, picnics and the like. There is an underground pathway beneath the A1A to this beach.

The South Beach Area is the more active portion of Fort Lauderdale beaches. Numerous beachfront shops, restaurants, nightclubs and the like, present avenues for enjoying time on the beach.

The natural coral reef system is one of the most attractive features of Fort Lauderdale's beaches. Face to face with such natural wonders tends to leave one speechless.

In 1986 Fort Lauderdale beach was renovated at a cost of $26 million. A complete redesign of coastal roadway A1A, the elimination of diagonal beach front parking, the addition of landscaped medians, pullout lanes, bicycle lanes, new traffic signals, brick paved pedestrian crosswalks, expanded sidewalks and a pedestrian beachfront promenade made a lot of difference. These changes made Fort Lauderdale beach more attractive and convenient for tourists.

During this renovation a beach wavewall was constructed. This is a flowing swirling beachwall that extends over a distance of two miles. This wavewall brings hordes of curious onlookers thronging to Fort Lauderdale beach.

The beach city of Redondo Beach, California is situated in Los Angeles County approximately eighteen (18) miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles and ten (10) miles northwest of Long Beach.

Most people that visit San Diego come for the beaches and perfect climate. If you are planning a trip, here is the scoop on the beaches, when to come and where to go.

While San Diego is often represented as having perfect year around weather, this is not entirely true for beach goers. It goes without saying that the months of December through March are pretty nippy, but there is another period when the beaches are barren and it might surprise you.

Visitors to San Diego in May and June often are very disappointed. During these months, we have something known as June Gloom. Essentially, the coast is covered in low clouds and going to the beach is an exercise in futility. Dont come! On the other hand, the two best months to visit are August and September. They are blazing hot and the beaches are less crowded, particularly in September after school starts.

So, which beaches should you go to? Well, there are a lot to choose from and everyone has an opinion. Here is mine!

If you want a beach with lots of younger people, Mission Beach is pretty much the place to be. The beach is one of the wider ones in San Diego, but it is packed. There is also a boardwalk behind it which is packed with people hanging out, rollerblading and so on. This is the place to be young and good looking.

If you prefer a more relaxed beach experience, Del Mar offers plenty of space with nice beaches. Some areas of the beach will have lots of people, but you can stroll south or north to less crowded areas. The beach areas are known by the numerical streets that run perpendicular to them. The beach at 17th street is the most crowded, while there are far fewer people on the sand at 22nd street. You dont have to know the streets. Just park, walk out to the beach and mozy up the beach till you find a spot you like.

If you are looking for a beach with a very private experience, the beaches below the cliffs in Encinitas are the way to go. These can be a little harder to find since there are only a few entrances to them, but you want to ask around for a location known as stone steps. Once you find it, you walk a few hundred steps down to a beach with only a few people. Walk a few hundred feet in either direction and you are alone.

Obviously, picking a beach in San Diego is a highly subjective decision. That being said, you cant really go wrong with any of the above.

Brazil is world renowned for its beaches. With a coastline of 4,578 miles and beautiful weather nearly year-round, its not surprising that the small town of Buzios near Rio de Janeiro is a phenomenal beachside destination. Buzios sits on a peninsula of twenty-two sparkling beaches where any day of the week youll see beautiful people basking in the sun at popular spots or relaxing in the tranquil atmosphere at one of the peninsulas more secluded beaches.

Buzios started out as nothing more than a tiny fishing village on the Atlantic coast. Public curiosity increased in 1960 with the visit of French femme fatale actress Brigitte Bardot, who chose Buzios as a peaceful getaway. Since then, Buzios has made quite a splash on the international tourism circuit. Buzios continues to attract the elite Hollywood crowd today.

Despite its growing sophistication, Buzios still maintains the right amount of its fishing village roots, which lends itself a quaint, old world charm. The various dining and lodgings in the village create an atmosphere that is very special.

In Buzios, the best places to stay are called pousadas. A pousada is a type of bed-and-breakfast inn that is a refreshing accommodation option. The busiest time in Buzios is around the New Year holiday and of course, Carnival. Carnival, one of the worlds biggest and most colorful festivals celebrated every February/March in nearby Rio de Janeiro.

Overall, Buzios is a special destination and should be considered on every Brazilian tour circuit. Along with enjoying all the highlights of Rio de Janeiro, and some far-away Amazon or Pantanal jungle, Buzios will provide the repose that completes a full Brazilian visit.
